but first…

Before I direct you to this prayer, it’s important you know the simple Gospel of Jesus Christ. You don't need to know the whole bible. I knew the bare minimum on the day I surrendered my life to God. He doesn't need you to know it all. But it's important you know who it is you're praying to.

Here is the Good News of the Gospel, simply put:

God sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to live a human life, free of sin. He showed us how to live for, through, and like Him - something that, although we strive to do as believers, is impossible because we live in a fallen world and our nature is to sin. This is why we need Him.

Jesus - who was sinless and perfect - served as a sacrifice. He was crucified on a sinners cross. The sins of all humanity - the sins of you and I - were nailed to that cross with Him. He died and was resurrected 3 days later to be with our Father in Heaven. The veil that once separated humanity and God Almighty, was officially torn in two, so we can have an intimate relationship with God THROUGH the divine, resurrected person of Jesus Christ.

Think of you, a sinner, on the edge of a cliff, and God - who is perfect and beyond our understanding, on a separate cliff a few feet away. In between these two cliffs is a large, deep gap - a chasm. That deep chasm represents our sin. When Jesus died for us, He became the bridge that covered the gap between you and God. Here, you can see a visual that I painted.

John 3:16: “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”

Prayer of Surrender

“God, I know I sin and can’t save myself. I know I’ve chased the things of the world and I have come up empty. Forgive me, God, for the ways I’ve hurt you and sinned against you. Thank you for loving me so much that you sent your Son, Jesus, who never sinned, to take my place on the cross so that I can be forgiven, have an intimate relationship with you here on earth, and live in Eternity with you in Heaven. I believe Jesus Christ is Your Son. I believe that He died for my sins and that you raised Him to life. I want to trust Him as my Savior and follow Him as Lord, from this day forward. Guide my life and help me to do your will. I pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.”
